Sustainability accelerates further
A good example of what is currently technically possible in terms of sustainability
“In Delft, we were responsible for the complete E-installation, the data network and cabling for access control and CCTV,” says project manager Johnny Gielen. ‘Furthermore, the existing lighting was replaced for LED with motion sensors. Smart switching via home automation also contributes to significantly lower energy consumption .” Application of such smart LED solutions is now standard practice for Van den Pol. “We don’t do anything else anymore.”
Supporting property owners
The renovated Stedin complex now has energy label A. “It is a good example of what is currently technically possible in terms of sustainability. Increasingly, we are supporting property owners in this effort. The government commitment will accelerate this development.”
The metamorphosis of the Utrecht office of grid operator Stedin is illustrative of current developments in the real estate market.
Previously, Van den Pol Elektrotechniek was also involved in the renovation and sustainability of the Utrecht Stedin office. The existing, older building had become too large for the current organization. Stedin decided to demolish half of the office and sustainably renovate the remaining portion. Van den Pol made a substantial contribution to this inner-city project with a substantial sustainability challenge.
Among other things, the E-specialist was responsible for the complete electrical installation, data network, fire alarm and intrusion system plus the access facility for the parking lot. Led lighting installed by Van den Pol provides substantial energy savings.
While operations remain unchanged, Stedin can go with 50% of the space. Energy consumption is now only a quarter of that in the original situation. A good example of what is currently technically possible in terms of sustainability.
