Woonstichting SSW rents and manages more than 5,000 objects in the municipality of De Bilt. In addition to good and affordable living, safe living is a spearhead. “With the legal obligation as of July 1, 2022 as an additional trigger, all our objects are equipped with professional smoke detectors,” says Arjan Verheul, process coordinator for planned maintenance at SSW.

When installing 10,000 smoke detectors, careful preparation was the basis for a flawless process. “Van den Pol was involved in this from an early stage. This became clear once again when one of the SSW flats was seriously damaged by a gas explosion in April 2022. This calamity immediately demanded all the attention of our organization. However, it had no impact whatsoever. on the progress of the work. Thanks to the efforts of Van den Pol’s team, the planning continued.”

Installation of smoke detectors was done on a voluntary basis. Residents could indicate a time slot of their preference. “Van den Pol carried out the work with a permanent team. Where possible, an electric cargo bike was used to transport the smoke detectors. We have succeeded in providing almost all homes with new appliances, including short instructions for the residents. Old detectors have been responsibly disposed of via Wecycle.”
