Marnemoende saves with battery system
900 solar panels at the Marnemoende water sports center in IJsselstein and energy storage
The 900 solar panels at the Marnemoende watersports center in IJsselstein were installed by Van den Pol. “The system is running smoothly and generates far more than necessary,” says Jan-Erik Reuvekamp. “The revised feed-in tariff makes energy storage an attractive option.”
The implementation of the system was determined in consultation with Van den Pol. Two batteries have a combined charging capacity of 466 kWh. Excess solar energy is stored during the day and used at night. An energy management system (EMS) continuously measures the grid connection, battery and yield of the PV system.
Set parameters ensure that the contracted capacity is not exceeded. Charging electric cars is done with solar power. When batteries are full, inverters automatically regulate back. “I can continuously monitor what is happening via an app. Van den Pol also monitors the data from the EMS.”
In addition to the fact that Marnemoende now uses even more of the energy it generates itself, its transport costs are also decreasing. “The expectation is that the investment will be recouped in about ten years.” Besides the economic consideration, there is also an intrinsic motivation. “When it comes to green and sustainable, we like to be at the forefront. This storage system fits seamlessly with this ambition.”
