Ready for the future
After an expansion and major renovation, the Sterrenburg Shopping Center is ready for the future. Such a project requires flexibility and problem-solving skills. You never know at the start what you will encounter.
The company name leaves no doubt about the specialty: Retail Bouw Nederland (re)builds stores, including for large chains. “We have known Van den Pol for this for many years,” says project leader Twan Huizink. Retail Bouw Nederland was commissioned by Wereldhave, a retail investor, to renovate the Sterrenburg shopping center in Dordrecht. Van den Pol participated in the makeover by disconnecting old installations and installing new power supplies. Based on the lighting plan, the entire lighting was replaced, with hanging lamps as prominent eye-catchers. We have also renovated the sound system and installed charging stations.
Improvise if necessary
“Renovation of a shopping center cannot be compared to a new construction project,” says Huizink. “You never know exactly what you will encounter at the start. All shops also remain open, the inconvenience for shopkeepers and the public must be minimal. This requires construction partners who can deal with this and Van den Pol does that like no other. They improvise as it is necessary and faults will be resolved as quickly as possible; the formal handling will follow later. This mutual trust is based on our past experiences and is crucial in a project like this. We can rely on each other. Owner Wereldhave was satisfied with the end result. We are happy to share those compliments with partners like Van den Pol.”
