Making St. Antonius Hospital more sustainable
Utrecht
St. Antonius Hospital uses our business unit Service and Maintenance to make lighting more sustainable and optimized.
“Given the importance of this facility, we opted for a real specialist,” says Marcel van Gameren, Energy and Planned Maintenance Advisor. “You also notice that they are used to limiting nuisance to a minimum. “Good communication is the key word here.
We fitted the lampposts on the parking deck and grounds of the Utrecht hospital location with new LED luminaires with integrated Smartscan sensors. This energy-efficient lighting is in dim mode as standard. If a fixture signals movement, the associated group lights up brighter. If there is no more movement, the group dims back. Considerations when choosing this solution were, in addition to energy savings and payback time, also safety and limiting nuisance to the environment.
Avoiding waste is also an important objective for St. Anthony. “When making pendant luminaires at the hospital locations in Utrecht and Nieuwegein more sustainable, it was decided to maintain the housing. Van den Pol has equipped these with suitable LED light sources. These are maintenance-free and energy efficient, while no raw materials are lost by maintaining the housing.”
