Plieger’s history goes back more than a century. With 750 employees and 56 branches, the company supplies sanitary, heating, electrical and installation materials to the business market. To optimize the logistics process, Plieger opened a new regional distribution center in Amstelveen. The total surface area of the new building comprises approximately 1,300 m2 of office space and 7,500 m2 of logistics hall. “With 8,800m2, this facility replaces five other locations. This further increases efficiency,” says facility coordinator Bert Busser.
Van den Pol was responsible for all electrical installations in the new building, including data installation and access control.
Sustainability was an important starting point for Plieger in the new construction. “It is gas-free, equipped with heat pumps and underfloor heating. Van den Pol has installed 116 PV panels; we want to expand that number later.” The new building is not only all electric but also full LED. “The light in the hall is on at 10% by default and switches to full strength when someone walks or drives in. This creates a kind of light corridor.”
