LKQ Fource – importer and distributor of car parts – is the market leader in the Netherlands. “Our new distribution center covers over 50,000 m3 and replaces four existing locations,” says Logistics Manager Loek Beekman, and has been fully occupied since Q2 2021.
Heembouw is responsible for the development and construction of the complex. It is a real eye-catcher with the central entrance on the first floor as a prominent element. “The building owes its name to this: The Bridge.” In addition to logistical facilities, employee well-being is an important starting point.
Van den Pol is responsible for the electrical installation, lighting and data facilities. Sustainability is at a high level with a BREEAM Excellent certification. The building is all electric, energy consumption is closely monitored and 172 kWp of PV capacity has been installed on the roof.
The LED lighting is equipped with sensors and can be adjusted finely. If there is no activity, the lighting automatically dims. This way, there will never be unnecessary lights on again. The site lighting is also only switched on in the dark when trucks are loading and unloading.
