With a lean approach, Heembouw and Van den Pol are also making progress in Palenstein.
In addition to business premises and offices, housing is also a Heembouw specialty. “It concerns new construction, transformation and renovation,” says project leader Graciël Slof. Heembouw has been doing Lean construction for years. “With lean we work faster, smarter and better. Our own architects also play a role in this. In the preliminary phase, they work closely with colleagues from plan development. Then execution takes over.”
Varied new construction area
A current example can be found in the Palenstein district of Zoetermeer. After the demolition of 1960s flats, a varied new construction area is being created here. “Our first sub-project includes 67 social rental apartments for the Vidomes housing association plus 53 ground-level owner-occupied homes.” In addition to the complete E-installation, Van den Pol installed LED lighting with motion sensors in general areas, videophone installation, smoke detector-controlled free-wheel closers, dynamic charging stations and the PV installation at the apartment complex.
Open and critical
Palenstein was Slof’s first personal introduction to Van den Pol. “As a permanent partner of Heembouw, they are fully familiar with our lean approach. Here too, Van den Pol was involved early in the process, with plenty of room for their input. We really work as one team, are open and, if necessary, critical of each other.”
