trusted partners in complex projects
Jan van ‘t Westeinde (imwes) on collaborating with an open mind
The strength of trusted partners is central to the collaboration between installation consultant IMWes and Van den Pol Elektrotechniek.
Our track record includes Booking.com, First, and NoMA House; complex projects that demand a high level of knowledge and expertise. Linden in Amsterdam-Zuidoost will become a new joint calling card.
We first met at the new Ericsson Rijen construction site. “That was in the nineties, at the time in my position as project developer at Starke Diekstra,” says Jan van ‘t Westeinde. “Later, I moved to project developer MAB Development. There, too, I worked with Van den Pol, including on Douwe Egberts and Vodafone offices on Oosterdokseiland.”
Largest new office building
In 2006, van ‘t Westeinde started IMWes Installatiemanagement as an independent consultant. “In that capacity, I was involved in the crowning achievement of this Amsterdam area: the Booking.com headquarters, then the largest new office building in Europe. Once again together with Van den Pol, in combination with their trusted HVAC partner Klimaatservice.
Straight
Other joint projects included Fist in Rotterdam and NoMA House in Amsterdam. “Complex assignments that demand a high level of knowledge and expertise. Think of the integration of architecture and installations. Furthermore, many parties are involved in such large projects, each with their own responsibilities and interests. Van den Pol handles this well. They are straightforward and communicate openly.”
State of the art
A current project fits into the line of prestigious properties. “ING is both developer and end-user. Linden will become part of Cumulus Park, as a green campus with more bank buildings.” Contemporary work concepts dominate, with an emphasis on the office as a meeting place. “Linden will be state-of-the-art, comparable to Booking.com.”
Crucial facility
At Linden, Van den Pol applies its broad expertise to the complete electrical installation, including lighting, fire alarm and evacuation systems This ensures that processes continue 24/7, even during emergencies.
Brilliant move
Van ‘t Westeinde has seen the share of installations in the built environment increase substantially over the past decades. For both residential and non-residential buildings, in terms of scope and finances. Sustainability and the energy transition play an important role in this. This development places significant demands on installers. Van den Pol takes up the challenge with conviction, for example by proactively addressing sustainability and grid congestion. To be able to continue fulfilling their role in the future, the in-house company school proves to be a stroke of genius. It has been ensuring the influx of young, well-educated talent for almost twenty years.
