Lievegoed provides care to people with intellectual disabilities, including those with additional challenges. “We have 80 buildings across 25 locations,” says Philip Blumendal, Manager of Real Estate, ICT & Facilities. “The functions are diverse, ranging from permanent housing to day activities and childcare. There are monuments as well as modern buildings, situated in nature and in the Zuidas.”
Integrity Advice
Lievegoed outsources tasks that do not fall under its core responsibilities to specialists. “Our first encounter with Van den Pol involved the electrical installation during a renovation in 2012. From that moment on, their involvement has steadily expanded.” Initially with the optimization and renewal of fire alarm systems, including maintenance and certification. Later, broad electrical engineering support and sustainability were added. Blumendal: “It is a large company with many disciplines. They fulfill their advisory role with integrity, and if something goes differently than expected, it is resolved properly.”
On-site and remotely
Van den Pol is also the regular partner for malfunctions. “I assess every incoming report,” says Astrid Visser. She is responsible for the service desk at Lievegoed. “If we cannot resolve it ourselves and in emergencies, I report the malfunction to Van den Pol. Their service department immediately initiates the necessary action by sending a technician or resolving the issue remotely.”
Familiar faces
More is required than just technical expertise. “The human aspect is very important, because clients constitute a vulnerable group. It is good that Van den Pol assigns dedicated technicians to each location. Residents deal with familiar faces; that provides reassurance.”
Shared ambition
Lievegoed has grown significantly in recent years. “To be able to offer quality in our care, scale is important,” states Blumendal. “That is why we want to continue growing in the coming period. Like Van den Pol, Lievegoed is dealing with challenging circumstances: many external developments, staff shortages, and full schedules. Given this dynamic, I see it as a shared ambition to safeguard the quality of our collaboration.”
