In addition to LC1220, Van den Pol Elektrotechniek is currently working with Heembouw on three other projects. “This concerns the new construction for Alcomij in ‘s Gravenzande and Top Geschenken in Aalsmeer, plus two logistics warehouses in Hellevoetsluis,” explains our project manager John. “Our commitment moves with the rhythm of each project, depending on the phase it is in.
Two building parts
As a permanent partner of Heembouw, Van den Pol Elektrotechniek is already involved in the calculation phase of LC 1220. “We provide all electrical services, including smart LED lighting with motion sensors,” says John. “The distribution center was initially designed as two separate sections, each with its own transformer and main distribution box. It later turned out that Vortex Logistics is using the entire building. At her request, we are making adjustments during construction.”
Decelerating at peak times
Due to grid congestion, the desired energy connection is also not available with LC 1220. “Therefore, additional facilities are needed to make the building operational. A third party installs this energy system, but we are increasingly implementing similar solutions for our customers.
Based on the installations and the expected energy consumption, we then determine the implementation of the PV system, battery storage and generator. An energy management system (EMS) automatically controls all these components.”
The EMS measures energy demand and availability in real time. “After the distribution center went live, we’re getting a better understanding of peak times. We can then temporarily switch off systems so the generator needs to intervene as little as possible.”
