Innovation inspires confidence
90 years of Van den Pol Elektrotechniek
For 90 years, we have been proving how trust is built. Remaining down-to-earth and progressive remains a value for regular customers and attracts new clients. Young talent and experienced colleagues are given plenty of room. We love proactive people.
At Van den Pol, we are proud of our history. “But that certainly doesn’t mean we are old-fashioned or conservative,” says Wim van den Pol. If you are unable to change, you will never last long.
Ambassadors
With many customers, the relationship goes back decades. “There are even clients from the very beginning. They trust us as an innovative specialist that provides safe, comfortable, sustainable, and communicative installations.” Also a party that speaks its mind. No flowery language, but an honest story. Once new customers get used to this, they won’t want anything else. And they, too, grow into ambassadors.
Not a luxury but a necessity
Relationships with clients and construction partners are increasingly developing into true partnerships. If you keep fielding a different team, you will never become champion. Trusted parties that collaborate regularly do so more safely, efficiently, and better. In short: partnerships are not a luxury, but a necessity.
Even better
Van den Pol is happy to remain responsible even after completion. This ensures the customer knows for certain that the installation continues to function optimally. Experiences gained during service and maintenance also help us to improve even further. We regularly map out the most common malfunctions. The same applies to issues identified by our inspectors during inspections. This information is used to improve working methods and installations. This is a continuous process, as part of our lean approach.
Don’t be scared
In ninety years, there have been good and difficult times: a war, the real estate and financial crises. “All those experiences have shaped this company. We are not easily discouraged and have the self-confidence needed to deal with new challenges.”
Still feasible
The prime current example is grid congestion. “Fortunately, we usually manage to find solutions for obstacles caused by the overloaded power grid. With an energy management system, we ensure smart control of the consumption, generation, and storage of electrical energy. This allows new construction or expansion to proceed, even with a minimal energy connection. What once seemed impossible turns out to be feasible after all.”
Young talent
As a result, Wim sees the company’s societal impact continuing to increase. “That helps attract young talent. The classes at the Academy, our own company school for 20 years, are well-filled. Customers can count on skilled technicians in the future as well.” Young employees learn from experienced colleagues. “More than two-thirds of our people have worked here for 12.5 years or longer. In 2026, we will even be saying goodbye to two colleagues who have been with us for 50 years.”
Safety Culture ladder
The basis for this long mutual commitment is trust. That starts with a focus on safety. This has the highest priority, including certification at Level 3 of the Safety Culture Ladder. For six years, there have been no accidents resulting in absence from work.
Room to devolpe
Trust is also the common thread in a career at the company. We love entrepreneurial people. There is plenty of room for you to develop. Making mistakes is allowed, as long as you learn from them. This mindset ensures that we continue to innovate.
