In several respects, The Orchard I is special for our colleague Hans Klapwijk, project manager of residential construction and responsible for this residential construction project in Rijswijk. He was born there and as a little boy he often walked through the Sterpassage shopping centre. And even though he has lived elsewhere for years, it still feels a bit like a home game.
The Orchard is also Hans’ last project in his nearly 48-year career at Van den Pol Elektrotechniek before he retires. He looks back with pride on great projects he has worked on, such as the Kroon, a 40-storey residential tower in The Hague, and also the headquarters of Booking.com. At 65,000 m3, this was the largest new office building in Europe in 2020.
Dynamic control
In The Orchard I, Van den Pol Elektrotechniek, as a permanent co-maker of ERA Contour, realizes all electrical installations and LED lighting with motion sensors in the common areas. In Rijswijk we are once again noticing the benefits of co-makership. You are in tune with each other and know exactly what you can expect from each other. A major advantage, especially with a complex project like this where communication is essential.
